29 Apr Siviero performs an unprecedented recital at the top of Corcovado
Recital will take place on World Autism Awareness Day, when the monument of Christ the Redeemer will be lit blue.
The day April 2, 2012 will forever be marked on the touristic and cultural life of the city of Rio de Janeiro. It will be the first time that a piano recital is going to take place in this monument considered ,since 2007, one of the wonders of the modern world. On this day – the World Autism Day – the monument of Christ the Redeemer will be lit blue when the last chords of the piano were still echoing.
The event will start at 5pm and will be attended by several political and cultural authorities and will be devoted especially to the works by Liszt. “The reason for this choice lies in the fact that he was the composer who made the famous piano transcription of the piece Ave Maria by Schubert. Moreover, because this whole initative seems to be a dream, I believe that his Nocturne n.3 “Libestraum” comes towards to what exactly is happening right now: everything is a dream of love, mainly because its charitable intention.The initiative of the event came from a group of institutions devoted in promoting and spreading awareness regarding the needs of the autistic.
“It was in Sao Paulo, not long ago, that I made contact with the extraordinary work done by the institution Autismo& Realidade. I embraced the cause”, stated Siviero, who has an autistic cousin.
