25 Apr Alvaro Siviero releases new CD The Pope Recital
New CD contains the recital performed by Siviero for the Pope Benedict XVI during his pastoral visit to Brazil
Next May 9th, from 7pm on, the pianist Alvaro Siviero will be releasing at the Basilica of the Monastery of St. Benedikt, in São Paulo, the CD The Pope Recital, whose tracks were performed by the pianist for the Pope Benedict XVI, in May 2007. The CD was recorded at Humboldt Concert Hall. Made up of 12 tracks, the disc contains works by Beethoven, Chopin, Schubert, Mozart, Bach, among others.
“It fell on me the enormous honour and responsibility of being invited to perform a private recital for His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. There were many people suggesting me to record this recital, but a sense of modesty, of protecting my own intimacy was impeding me from taking this decision. At this first anniversary of the Pope’s visit to Brazil, I decided to break my silence. The recording has become a real trip back in time. A chill and a reaction of surprise strongly came over me when, on the very same day the recording section was done, I was told that was the day of the Pope’s birthday”, says the pianist Alvaro Siviero.
The festivities will be held in the Basilica beginning with the Holy Mass celebrated by the Archbishop of the Monastery, Dom Mathias. There will also be a celebration to the commemorative plaque celebrating this anniversary. Afterwards, Siviero will peform to the audience in the central nave of the Basilica. The evening will have its closure with the song Laudis of Hicmari, famous Gregorian chant, which was sung by the monks of the Monastery of St. Benedict for the Pope on May 10, 2007.
